Meet our team

CK Travel President Chris Barth

Chris

Founder & President

Chris Barth arrived in Laos in 2008 and began exploring this beautiful land, especially the less-travelled, more remote regions such as Phongsaly and Houaphan.
In the process of discovering the abundant, diverse cultures in Laos, he learned Khmu ethnic language and some Hmong, in addition to the majority Lao language.
Almost straight away he wanted to share his passion for all things Lao, so chose to be a tour guide and mentor introducing tourists to unchartered territory.
In 2012 he returned to being an entrepreneur, founding a visa and expat services company and also opening a hotel in Luang Prabang province.
In 2022, with these ongoing, he then started CK Travel in partnership with Kevyn McGraw, CEO of ASEAN contact centre (ACC).
Having built his own traditional Lao bamboo house on stilts, he currently lives in a typical Lao village by the Nam Ngum River with his Lao wife and four children, two of which they adopted.
He wants to give back to Laos, to reciprocate the gifts and blessings it has given him.
Chris Barth has maintained an excellent professional reputation in Laos, particularly during Covid when in very difficult circumstances he helped hundreds of expats get back to their wives & employers in Laos.

CK Travel CEO Kevyn McGraw

Kevyn

Founder & CEO

Kevyn McGraw first came to Vientiane in 2012 through an aunt at the French school. Eleven years later, his three children attend that same school, and he is running a successful contact centre.
When Kevyn was #canadianofthemonth in 2016, his ASEAN Contact Center had less than 20 staff, it now employs more than 400 people, most of whom are Lao and are proficient in 8 languages.
ASEAN Contact Center is the backbone of customer service for the leading food delivery services in Laos and also supports phone-based market research for organizations such as the World Food Program and World Education.
Kevyn recently co-founded CK Travel with Chris Barth, which in November 2023 will start offering services including: specialized insurance; emergency support; visas; hotel, tour & transport bookings; and language translation via WhatsApp, WeChat & Line to help visitors communicate with more ease while in Laos.
Kevyn has a farm outside the capital with his wife and family, and is also involved with the local Canadian community. He is the founder and part of the team establishing the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which will facilitate business connections between public and private interests in Laos, and provide networking opportunities and support events for the Canadian community in Laos. He has been involved in performing arts in Vientiane for nearly a decade!

John Morris William

Senior Advisor

John Morris Williams is a ‘seasoned’ hotelier with over 40 years’ experience.
Influenced by his mentors to travel and explore new countries and destinations, he left the ‘land of his fathers’, Wales, a long time ago. He has been very thankful for their guidance, moving from Scotland to Barbados, onto Saudi Arabia, and then onto Thailand.
He then ventured into Laos in 2014 and took over management of the Luang Prabang View Hotel, where, for over 6 years, he built a name for himself as a sound and honest operator, and brought the hotel up to international standards. John has been fortunate to receive great opportunities, and thus his philosophy is to always give back by helping those who are in need of help and support.
John has been a catalyst in putting Chris Barth & Kevyn McGraw in touch and thus the creation of CK Travel!
He has been in Southeast Asia 34 years, divided between Thailand and Laos, and has now set up home in the capital of Laos, Vientiane, with his wife and family, being blessed with two young daughters and two adopted children.
John always strives to maintain and improve hospitality industry standards and as such is well respected from North to South of the country. One medium he uses to offer his support to the industry is his website www.wearelao.com - a destination management portal.

Rod Plant

Head of Emergency Services

Hi! I’m Rod Plant,
I first came to Thailand in 1976, where I was ordained as a monk for 5 years. In 1979, I helped Cambodian refugee camps and later resettling Cambodians to Australia.
In 1988, I was appointed by Save the Children Australia to be their first country director for Laos.
In 1991, I worked on a Thai hill-tribe social development project until 1994, and directly trained government officials in 6 provinces.
In 2016, I retired from public service in Australia and settled in Laos.
During the COVID-19 pandemic I joined Chris Barth Visa & Expat Services, where my past experience and fluency in both Lao and Thai was well utilized – me and Chris handled several medevacs and emergencies, helped foreigners struggling in Laos due to border closure and also foreigners who had been incarcerated.
Since March 2022, I have been CK Travel Laos’ “Head of Emergency Services”
